Physiotherapist

All residents are assessed by a Physiotherapist on admission and a therapy program is designed to meet their individual needs. Residents are then reassessed on an ongoing basis and the program re-evaluated twelve monthly.
A physiotherapist also oversees the exercise and individual walking program and every resident has access to a personal 1:1 Physiotherapy session each week.
If further physiotherapy is requested (by family)/recommended (by Physio and/or Doctor) for your loved one, then you will also have the opportunity to purchase additional sessions for them. Further Physiotherapy can often be recommended for maintenance/improvement of physical capacity (muscle strength/endurance/power (mobility), static and dynamic balance (falls prevention), cardiovascular fitness/lung health, joint range of motion and contracture prevention, pain management, injury rehabilitation, and overall social and emotional well-being.

Occupational Therapist

An OT’s role is to help residents maintain or regain their ability to perform everyday tasks, promoting independence and enhancing their quality of life. This can include:

  • Activities of Daily Living (ADLs): Providing strategies and tools to make tasks like dressing, bathing, and eating easier and safer.
  • Mobility: Assessing the need for mobility aids such as wheelchairs, walkers, or modified cutlery.
  • Environmental Modifications: Suggesting changes to a resident’s room or common areas to reduce fall risks and improve accessibility.

Our facility arranges for an Occupational Therapist to visit as needed, ensuring residents receive specialised care when they require it. Referrals are made by a doctor, physiotherapist, or registered nurse, who identify residents who could benefit from an OT’s expertise.

Speech Therapist

Speech Pathologists are crucial for a resident’s well-being, as they addresses a range of issues affecting their communication and swallowing abilities. Referrals are made by a doctor or registered nurse when they identify a resident who could benefit from her specialised care.

Speech therapy in aged care is a critical service that extends beyond just helping residents speak clearly. It’s vital for maintaining communication, ensuring safe eating and drinking, and preserving cognitive function.

Optometrist

Regular eye care is a vital component of a resident’s overall health and well-being, and having an in-house optometrist is crucial for ensuring that this need is met. For older adults, vision problems are common, can develop silently, and can have significant impacts on their daily life, safety, and independence.

The convenience of having an on-site optometrist ensures that all residents, regardless of their mobility or cognitive status, have easy access to essential eye care, directly contributing to their overall quality of life and well-being.
